The Virginio Cesarini Astronomical Observatory

The Virginio Cesarini Astronomical Observatory

The observatory was inaugurated in 1995 and was built in a building that, from the 1700s until the middle of the last century, was a grain mill.

Dedicated to Virginio Cesarini, a 16th-century Sabine man of letters, a member of the illustrious house whose name he bore, and a friend of Federico Cesi who was also an astronomy enthusiast.

He received in 1998 the international astronomical certification code of the MASSACHUSETTS MINOR PLANET CENTER OF CAMBRIDGE .

Scientific research, teaching and outreach activities are carried out in the Observatory.

Open to the public one Saturday a month, it offers observation of the most fascinating stars, themed lectures, and virtual planetarium displays.
